The first thing you’ll notice about Dumont’s respiratory care unit is the sense of peace and tranquility that permeates the atmosphere there. The unit overlooks an inlet off Long Island Sound and the views inspire a sense of well-being that contributes to successful therapy.
Registered Respiratory Therapists and registered nurses staff the unit seven days a week, 24-hours a day. This staff is dedicated to the respiratory unit with most having eight to 10 years working with the same team – honing their skills, getting to know the patients, their families and everything necessary to make life comfortable and accommodating. When possible, an aggressive “weaning” program is initiated. The goal is always to have the individual function at the highest level of independence possible.
